I am so excited about my latest venture and it seems the lovely customers in my shop are too! I have recently collaborated with local soap maker, Kimeli Wade to design and develop our own line of The Ivory Closet soaps. Everyone is curious as to why I went from fashion and now to soaps ... it seems I am all over the place right? Well I promise I have a very good reason to dabble in the suds business.
It all started when customers kept inquiring about the sweet refreshing scent of The Ivory Closet. We actually have a custom scent for our shop that is circulated through the air.
Indulging the senses is an old marketing tactic that helps people identify your brand outside of it's environment when they smell similar scents. With our custom scent billowing in the air, our clothing even smells like the shop once the customer takes the item home keeping the brand fresh in the consumers mind. Little did I know that a bath line would come of it!
People began to ask on the daily, "Where can I get that scent?" and voile, an idea was born. I decided to create the scent in a soap and candle at first. Once I approved the finished product, I felt it nessecary to develop more fragrances to the line. Honestly, I had so much fun with the product design that I didn't want to stop!|I decided to create the scent in a soap and candle at. As a small business owner, being able to source the products locally is very rewarding to me. It isn't often that a small business can brand a product at the smaller quantities that they need, affordably from a local source. Memphis is a very entrepreneurial inundated city. So many small businesses, makers, and start up ideas flourishing and everyone seems to be ready and willing to collaborate. I am so honored to be working with expert soap and body product maker, Kimeli Wade on my creations. She is also making the candles that match the soaps! Right now I have 5 scents with the candles and bath bombs to match. I will be adding 7 more fragrances by the end of the year! It's totally worth mentioning that the bath bombs are locally sourced by one of our Ivory Closet Sales Stylists, Briana Shaver. I love it when the ladies who help run the shop are makers and we get to incorporate them into the buying process to support their brand and business.|Now I have 5 scents with the candles and bath bombs to match.
